Shashin enabling view of L&C Day1 and L&C Day2

Basically, Shanin provides the link back to one or more picassa albums that are viewed when clicking on any album displayed. A simple way to view thumbnail of picassa albums.

Shanin has enabled the plugin to make it simple to provide the markup script with easily identified parameters of personal albums, providing examples of script. We simply filled in the blanks. This demostration identifies tumbnails for picassa album showing Day 1 and Day 2 of Lewis and Clark Tour.

Discoveries: Awsom gallery

After viewing the sample gallery, the feature that caught our eyes was: ”Easily Updated: Adding or removing images is as simple as adding them to the original folder–Pixgallery detects the new or changed images and adds them into your gallery with no work on your part. You can even add entire new folders of images just as easily by uploading them.” Since we have uploaded images earlier, we are proceeding on assumption we can use the same images for this gallery.

After understanding the path root related to root directory of wordpress on our host we discovered the process fairly straight forward for displaying array of images.

we  set the path fo rawsome gallery to folder of earlier images taken on Lewis and Clark guided tour.

Since the script worked to produce gallery, we now need to examine how to manage this gallery, which we understand are described at the awsom site

Our Lewis and Clark Album folder was the  the path defined  to illustrate the following images:

Discovering NextGen Single image

Importing a single picture from any album is NextGen option such as the image below of Corps of Discovery Salt works on Pacific Beach. The beach the Corps used to make salt was several miles from the fort.

IMGA0053.JPG

Individual selections consisting of all images uploaded can be displayed one at a time using this option.

The NexGen Gallery popup dialog box displays tabs for gallery, album and picture.
In this case the tab picture was selected and drop down box enables selection of any image uploaded in nexgen file on host directory.

Note that when selecting theme, the choice was a theme that wrapped text around the image, which is controlled by css file.

The path was described in installation url.

Discovering NextGen Album

ailing to include an album on previous posting o f slideshow, the attempt to do so failed due to problem with identifying album id. It seems that we have only two albums, but after deleting three, the choice remains at 5. We may need to remove and reinstall nextgen to remove the options that we deleted. Albums should appear as thumbnails in the compact version with extended version displaying across the width of blog post.

In this case, the viewer makes the selection as to method of viewing and is provided option at each choice to switch between these viewing options;

47 Photos

What we are striving for in an album is to display the entire album on a post in the absence of viewer’s intervention.

Discovering NextGen Slideshow

Now that we have been able to include slide show as NextGen Widget on the right panel, we are examining posting a slideshow within a post as demonstrated below:

That slideshow includes Discovering how to apply Nextgen slideshow of Fort Benton, Pompey’s pillar, and three forks at Missouri River source. Included in this slidesow are images form the Gates of the mountain as labeled by Clark when passing traversing up river looking for the source of the Missouri River

Next post will include an album using nextgen plugin.

Discoveries: Flickr and Pictobrowser

Discover Flickr and Pictobrowser

Discoveries in using Flickr album imported to Pictobrowser is a story to tell that may help you show your Flickr photo albums in a unique way of displaying album through Pictobrowser creating script and using this script in a blog.

This story is one of examining other bloggers, and finding a successful blogger using Flickr and Pictobrowser to enhance a post.

Discovery in browsing blogs

While searching for travel blogs to gain some insight as to how to present our own blog, we found a site, “My Internet Connection TV Segment,” while posting a comment on Ken Leebow’s Blog. Ken’s blog presents an image album generated through pictobroser into script for pasting into his post. This really tweaked my interest to discover “how did the blogger do that.”

The technique is to present an image with thumbnail slide show below a larger image in the same frame. This method enables viewer to view thumbnails while viewing one of the thumbnails in a larger frame. The viewer can browse through a sliding bar of small thumbnail images and select any to expand the thumbnail to a larger size image.

Ken’s site,” Testing the Service Pictobrowser” showed the image of a pet dog “driving a boat” with associated dog images in thumbnail sizes. Below that image in the same frame in the lower right was “Pictobrowser”, also at the right, above the thumbnails was a link where the images were stored in flickr. The Author’s home page showed 199 photos were uploaded to his flickr page

My effort to emulate Ken’s illustration of this technique took several attempts due to ZoneAlarm or cookies blocking my access to Flickr, where I signed up for an account earlier

Here is my effort in using Pictobrowser extracting images from Flickr, by selecting user name and then the album name.

So, I created a flickr account and uploaded images from Portland Gardens:
